90 Day Fiance: Kenny And Armando Visit Orphanage
Updated: Oct 27, 2021
Could A Baby Be Joining The Family Soon?
90 Day Fiance: The Other Way stars Kenny and Armando might have a baby on the way soon.
Kenneth "Kenny" Niedermeier and Armando Rubio visit an orphanage in a recent episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way. The orphanage, in Rubio's native Mexico, is for children with HIV. The couple married in May.
Nothing is set for certain yet. Armando acknowledges to the cameras that there is, "a lot to go through with the government stuff." He later adds that "...it just makes me kind of question how long the process is going to take and if this is the best way forward."
Kenny, on the other hand, is already the father of four. At 57, he can still remember the days when, as he says on camera, "friends were just dying left and right." Kenny goes on to say that AIDS, "was a death sentence 30 years ago... I would love to take that child that's here today and embrace them and hug them and support them and show them how loved they are."
Are They Both Ready For A Kid?
Despite his later hesitation, the episode begins with Armando as the one eager for a child. Armando, 31, notes in a confessional during the show: "I have a large extended family and I've always wanted more kids." Kenny already has grown children and even a grandchild. Kenny seems a bit stunned by the request, reminding Armando that babies are a lot of work. He points out that he's nearly 60, telling Armando, "...people who are approaching 60 usually aren't having babies."
Back in 2020, Kenny admitted that his four children were born through in-vitro fertilization. Wanting children, he faked marriage with a female friend so that they would qualify for the procedure. Back then (the 1990's), treatment was only available for heterosexual couples.
Kenny simply told the doctor that he and his friend were married, in order to have children. He raised them in Florida, noting that he didn't struggle much with acceptance in his diverse community.
Armando's Previous Wife
Armando has one child, Hannah, with an ex-wife. Feeling the pressure of his Mexican community and family to "act straight," he married and had a child. They were married for 8 years. Finally, Armando came out to his wife, and they eventually separated. Armando clarified later on Instagram that they separated for a number of reasons, including her anger issues, and not specifically because he was gay.
Armando and his ex-wife had a disagreement over finances during the divorce proceedings. She apparently was angry and followed him home, attempting to run him off the road. Losing control of her vehicle, her car flipped over. She died at the scene, according to Armando - along with their unborn second child.
What Happens Next?
It can be tough to make the decision to add a child to an already blended family. But for these two, having more children obviously comes with some extra concerns, and emotions could run high.
We'll have to keep watching to see what the pair decides over the course of the season. TLC's 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. (EST).
