A-League Round 13 Recap

Rodwell Wins It For The Wanderers As Sydney Look Ominous With Win Over Adelaide

Round 13 of the A-League has been played, and Aussie sports expert Jamie Samuel has got it all covered for you right here. From the Wanderers victory over Perth on Wednesday night to Sydney FC moving to the top of the table come rounds end.

Rodwells Strike Steals The Glory For WSW over Perth

Western Sydney Wanderers got a 1-0 victory over Perth Glory on Wednesday night. After a low cross, a finish from Jack Rodwell in the 26th minute was good enough to see the Wanderers home. Rodwell had the chance to double up in the 51st minute, but his shot went wide.

Western Sydney will look to continue its winning form when they host Melbourne City on Friday night. Perth Glory faces a tough trip to face Perth Glory.

Newcastle Jets managed to win their second game of the season, defeating Brisbane Roar 2-1 on Thursday night.

Wellington Phoenix caused a big upset with their 3-1 win over Macarthur FC. Wellington took the lead from the penalty spot from Reno Piscopo as early as the 12th minute. They would carry that lead into halftime, especially due to some excellent goalkeeping, denying Macarthur three close-range attempts in the 35th minute.

Wellington almost doubled their lead through Joshua Sotirio, he sweetly struck a volley from 25 yards that beat the 'keeper but rebounded off the post. Macarthur found their equalizer in the 57th minute through Ulises Davila. Sotitrio managed to take his opportunity this time, in the 71st minute after a tantalizing run, Keto got a hand to it but the ball still found its way into the net to give Wellington the lead back.

Sotitio doubled up on his effort in the 77th with an audacious chip that all but sealed the win for Wellington. They will look to continue this form when they face the FFA Cup Winners Melbourne Victory on Wednesday night. Whilst Macarthur will look to bounce back from this defeat when they face Brisbane on Sunday.

Sydney FC Move Into The Top Three After Victory Over Adelaide United

Sydney FC moved up the table, following a 2-1 win over Adelaide United. As early as the 9th minute, Elvis Camsoba broke the deadlock for Sydney FC after taking on the defenders and scoring at the near post.

Stephen Mauk would equalize for Adelaide United on the half-hour mark. After a strong save from Andrew Redmain, he tapped in the rebound, sending the home crowd wild. But come the 77th minute, Sydney FC would find their winner through Bobo. After a low cross, he tapped the decisive goal home.

Sydney FC is right amongst it after a slow start. There is no question they are finally finding their feet this season. They will look to continue their winning run when they host Western United on Saturday night in a mouthwatering top-of-the-table clash. While Adelaide will look to rebound when they face Wellington away.

This brings Round 13 to a wrap. The season is getting interesting and it will be particularly interesting to see how Melbourne Victory goes when they return to action, after claiming their second FFA Cup in a thrilling 2-1 win over Central Coast on Saturday night.

Here's how the table sits as of 9/2/21 3.50 PM
